  1. GHUSL, WUDU (ABLUTION)& Tayammum Fards (Compulsory acts before Salat) Before the prayerISLAM 101

  2. SALAT  is the pillar of the religion. He who leaves it has demolished his religion. Hadith

  3. Why Muslims perform? Because SALAT is ordered in Qur’an and described in Hadith. Be ever mindful of prayers, and of praying in the most excellent way; and stand before God in devout obedience.Qur'an 2:238 And before God prostrate themselves, willingly or unwillingly, all things and beings that are in the heavens and the earth, as do their shadows in the mornings and the evenings.Qur'an 13:15

  4. Every creature in the universe worship Allah c.c. through their tongues of disposition even if we do not understand them. Trees Birds Flowers and others…

  5. Our main worship is through SALAT.

  6. (The religion of) Islam is based on 5. • (five pillars): • to testify that there is no god but Allah and that Muhammad (peace be upon him)  is His Servant and Messenger; • to establish the prescribed prayers; • to pay the obligatory Zakah; • to make Hajj (pilgrimage); and • to observe Fasting throughout • the month of Ramadan.’ • (Hadith: Recorded by Al-Bukhary and Muslim)

  7. SALAT becomes FARD (obligation) for who is • * Muslim • * Sane • * Reached the age of Maturity • right after firs wet dream for boys • right after first period for girls

  8. SALAT is remembrance of Allah c.c. SALAT is a prayer and supplication Prayer comforts the soul and the mind and is easy for the body.

  9. The passport to Eternity comprises the five daily prayers, observing the other obligations, and avoiding the major sins.

  10. We have been given 24 hours for a day. If we spend 23 hours a day in worldly affairs and do not reserve the remaining hour for the prescribed prayers, we are a foolish loser. 1 out of 24 gold pieces?

  11. Daily 5 times prayers, incluing wudu take our 1 hour.

  12. Those prayers might be our ticket to paradise.

  13. Faraid (compulsory acts) in SALAT

  14. Before the prayer 6 FARAID of PRAYER(Compulsory Acts of Salat) During the prayer 6

  15. FARAID (compulsory acts) before prayer • TAHARAH FROM HADATH Cleanliness of body. • TAHARAH FROM NAJASAT Cleanliness of dress and place • SATRI AVRAT Covering of the body • QIBLAH Facing towards KABAH • VAKT Time • NIYYAH Iintention for SALAT (prayer).

  16. PREPERATION CONDITIONS THAT MUST BE OBSERVED BEFORE PRAYER.

  17. TAHARAH FROM HADATH (Cleanliness of body) • To pray we have to be clean from Filth and Impurities  “Cleanliness is the half of the faith” “Cleanliness is the key to prayers.” Without cleanliness, a prayer is not accepted.

  18. There are 2 (two) kinds of hadath: (a) Minor hadath: It is the state of hadath that is eliminated by making wudu. Wudu is invalidated when when blood flows from an organ like the mouth and nose, etc; and the state of minor hadath occurs. Wudu is enough to end the state of minor hadath.  (b) Major hadath: It is the state of hadath that occurs due to janabah, menstruation and puerperium; it can be eliminated only by ghusl.

  19. To be clean • WUDU (Ablution) • 2. GHUSL (BATH) has become COMPULSORY if the state of a person JANABAH. • If there is no water Teyemmum (ablution with clean soil)

  20. Am I ready for prayer? Do I need GHUSL (BATH) ? NO YES Do I need Wudu (Ablution)? Take GHUSL (BATH) NO, Because I already have wudu. YES Go 2nd STEP Take Wudu (Ablution)

  21. When Ghusl is necessary? •  InThe state of janabah. It takes place due to two reasons: a. Ejaculation with lust when a person is awake or asleep without having a sexual arousal or intercourse, having sexual satisfaction. If a person who does not remember having a wet dream wakes up and sees a smear of sperm on his clothes, he has to make ghusl. However, a person who remembers having a wet dream but does not see anything on his clothes does not have to make ghusl. b. Having a sexual intercourse... Ejaculation (orgasm) is not a necessary condition; having a sexual intercourse necessitates ghusl.

  22. When Ghusl is necessary? • The second state necessitating ghusl is the period of menstruation for women. When the menstruation ends, it becomes fard for a woman to make ghusl. • The third state necessitating ghusl is the state of puerperium; that is, the state after giving a birth. When the period of puerperium ends, it becomes fard for a woman to make ghusl.

  23. Ghusl has 3 compulsory acts • Rinsing the mouth thoroughly, ensuring that the water reaches the back of the throat. • Taking water into the nostrils to the limit of the tender or fleshy part of the nose. • Drenching the WHOLE body - from head to toe - thoroughly, ensuring that no part of the body is left dry.

  24. WUDU (Ablution) Since SALAT is to worship our Lord coming before Him, All our body and clothes must be clean as well as our hearth.

  25. Wudu (Ablution) • The obligatory 4 acts are as follows: • Washing the face. • Washing both arms up to and including the elbows. • Wiping a quarter of the head with wet hands. • Washing both feet up to and including the ankles.

  26. How to make WUDU (Ablution) • Ensure that the water to be used is pure. • Intend to perform wudu to offer prayer, if you plan to pray after taking it. • Recite: Bismillahir-Rahmanir-Rahim (i.e., in the Name of God, the All-Merciful, the All-Compassionate).

  27. How to make WUDU (Ablution) 1 2 Clean your mouth with a brush or a finger, and gargle with water three times.Rinse the nostrils with water three times.  Wash the hands up to the wrists three times

  28. How to make WUDU (Ablution) 3 4 Wash the face from the forehead to the chin and from ear to ear three times. Wash the right arm followed by the left up to the elbows three times.

  29. How to make WUDU (Ablution) 5 6 Pass the wet tips of the little fingers inside and the wet tips of the thumbs outside the ears, and pass the palms over the nape and sides of the neck. Wipe at least a quarter of the head with wet hands,

  30. How to make WUDU (Ablution) 7 Finally, wash the feet up to (and including) the ankles, the right foot first and then the left, taking care to wash in between the toes, each three times.

  31. The following acts nullify wudu • Whatever comes out from the two private parts (front and back): waste matter, urine, wind, wadi (a thick white secretion discharged after urination), mazi (a white sticky fluid that flows from the sexual organs when thinking about sexual intercourse or foreplay, and so on), and prostatic fluid. Semen, menstrual blood, and post-childbirth blood require ghusl. • Emission of blood, pus, or yellow matter from a wound, boil, pimple, or something similar to such an extent that it flows beyond the wounds mouth. • Vomiting a mouthful of matter. • Physical contact for pleasure between men and women without any obstacle (e.g., clothes). • If the head of ones penis disappears into a womans vagina, ghusl is required. • Loss of consciousness through sleep, drowsiness, and so on. • Temporary insanity, fainting, hysteria, or intoxication. • Audible laughter during prayer.

  32. Tayammum (Ablution with clean soil) Tayammum with clean soil substitutes for ghusl when there is no water or it is impossible to be used.

  33. Tayammum, which is a symbolic and spiritual way of cleaning, gives one the feeling of cleanliness spiritually and psychologically, though it does not provide a physical cleanliness, and enables one to feel ready for worshipping Allah. Allah the Supreme Being meant not to cause people hardship but to complete His favors to them by making ablution, ghusl (tayammum) obligatory. These are nothing that exceeds the capacity of people’s power

  34. How to take Tayammum 1 2 Intending to perform tayammum to remove any impurity.  Striking the pure soil lightly with the palms of both hands Stroke hands each otherPassing the palms over the face one time.

  35. How to take Tayammum 3 Striking the pure soil again with ones palms and rubbing the right and left arms alternately from the fingertips to the elbows.

  36. Tayammum is nullified as soon as the cause for tayammum is removed (i.e., the sick person recovers or pure water is found). If a person performs tayammum and then prays, he or she does not have to repeat the prayer (SALAT) if the conditions for it are removed before the time for that particular prayer ends.

  37. 2. TAHARAH FROM NAJASAT cleanliness of body, dress and place. Najasa refers to impure substances that Muslims must avoid and wash off after coming into contact with them. God says: Purify your raiment (dress) (74:4) God loves those who repent and who purify themselves (2:222).

  38. Gross impurity (najasat al-ghaliza) • BLOOD, URINE, VOMIT, EXCREMENT, ALCOHOL, WADI (a thick white secretion discharged after urination), MAZI (a white sticky fluid that flows from the sexual organs when thinking about sexual intercourse, foreplay, and so on) • The urine, saliva, and blood of all animals whose meat is prohibited, and the excrement of all animals except birds whose meat is allowable, are impure. • * Any solid filth weighing more than 3 grams, and * Any liquid more than the amount that spreads over a persons palm, invalidates the prayer. • 2. Weak impurity (najasat al-khafifa) • The urine of horses and domestic or wild animals whose meat is allowed to eat is weak impurity (najasat al-khafifa). When more than one-fourth of a limb or one-fourth of ones clothes are smeared with it, the prayer is in-validated.

  39. 3. SATRI AVRAT Covering the area of the body Covering the area of the body that cannot be shown in public. For the men, this is from the knee to the navel; For women, the whole body except the face, hands, and feet.

  40. 4. Facing the qibla (the direction of the Sacred Mosque in Makka) during the prayer

  41. Tampa, FL ~54 degrees from North

  42. 5. VAKT (TIME) Performing the prayer in its time.

  43. Dhuhr Noon 45minutes Asr Afternoon Dhuhr Prayer Abominable Time Asr Prayer 45 minutes 45 minutes PRAYER TIME TABLE Abominable Time Abominable Time Sunrise Sunset Maghrib Prayer Fajr Prayer Isha Prayer Tahajjud Prayer Imsak Isha

  44. When to perform?

  45. 6. NIYYAH ( Intention) Make the intention to perform a specific prayer “Actions are judged according to intentions. One is rewarded for whatever one intends to do. Whoever emigrates for God and His Messenger has emigrated for God and His Messenger; whoever emigrates to acquire something worldly or to marry has emigrated for what is intended.” (Bukhari, “Bed’ul-Wahy,” 1; Muslim, “Iman,” 155 )

  46. Thus the intention is the aim and purpose of something. It is a condition of the heart and does not have to be spoken out loud.
