Hearing loss: population statistics • Approximately one-third of non-institutionalized older persons with hearing problems, about 2.5 million in 1995, reported having used a hearing aid within the past year. • Keep in mind that these figures include conductive, sensorineural, and mixed hearing loss, so not all are the result of noise exposure.
