  4. elaborate (adj.) expressed in great detail His excuse for not having his homework was extremely elaborate, involving corndogs, aliens, tornados, and an escaped convict.

  5. mottled (adj.) having a variety of hues or colors The orange, red and green mottled leaves of Zacch’s scarf really complemented his ginger head.

  6. recumbent (adj.) still, without movement The boys lay recumbent on the floor when their friend used the power of his mind to convince them he was holding a gun, and stole their wallets.

  7. complacently (adv.): self-satisfied, unconcerned Jessie looked at the teacher complacently when she suggested that he make some revisions to his rather mediocre essay.
