  21. Act out the dialogue. Interviewer: Now, Professor, what can you tell our listeners about the effects of global warming? Prof. Watson: Well, the most noticeable effect is that our weather patterns are changing. Did you know that it only takes a rise of a few degrees in temperature to seriously affect life on Earth? Interviewer: No, I didn't. That's terrible. Prof. Watson: Some countries are already becoming hotter while others are becoming much colder. Interviewer: But that won't affect everyone - only the far north and south? Prof. Watson: No, that's where you're wrong! All parts of the world will be affected but in different ways. There will be droughts in some parts of the world and bad storms and floods in others. The rise in temperature will also cause the Polar ice caps to melt and so the sea levels will rise. Actually, this is already happening and it will soon get much worse. Interviewer: Really? I didn't know that. Prof. Watson: Yes and throughout the world many low-lying areas are in danger of flooding. Think about how often there have been reports of floods lately in places like Holland and Bangladesh. Interviewer: I suppose you're right. And what about wildlife? Prof. Watson: Well, many plants and animals won't be able to adapt to the new climate and they may die. Some animals are already losing their homes and many plants are disappearing too.
