  1. INTRODUCING TES FOR DEPARTMENT COURSE EVALUATORS

  2. This presentation will introduce you to the powerful features of TES including: The flexibility of TES Easy to use Course Finder In depth course descriptions Evaluation Tracker for evaluating transfer courses Introducing T.E.S.!

  3. What is tes? • T.E.S. stands for: Transfer Evaluation System • TES is a product from College Source the same company that owns DARWIN. • Just like College Source, TES provides PDF Catalogs • The TES course finder does the searching for you when finding a course description. • TES provides equivalencies at your fingertips via the TES website

  4. The flexibility of tes • With TES, there is nothing to install or download! • Any web browser will work with TES, including Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox and Google Chrome. • You can use TES anywhere including your home! • TES works on a Mac or a PC! • Setting up an account to use TES requires: finishing the training and then submitting a Banner Authorization Request. • Resetting your password is as simple as sending an email to: glendajo@unm.edu.

  5. TES Functions • Course finder: to look up course descriptions • Course description options: there are several functions available in the course description area of Tes. • Institution profile: A complete data set of information for accredited colleges and schools in the u.s.a. • Tes Evaluation Tracker: use Tes to send upper division course evaluations to departments for review.

  6. Using the Course finder in TES • Use the Course Finder to look up course descriptions without having to search the entire college catalog • To begin searching for a course: log into TES, from the home page, click on the “Course Finder” link

  7. Course Finder • Type in the college name and click search • ***HINT: you can change the search to look for non U.S. schools or both domestic and international***

  8. Course finder • Choose your school by clicking on the arrow to the left of the name

  9. Course Finder • You can either use the Course Description Data Set or you can view the College’s PDF Catalog (like College Source). • For either one you will need to use the pull down menu to choose the proper catalog year.

  10. Course Finder • From the Institution Data Set, you can do two things: • Search for a particular course by typing in the Course Code or the Course Title (need the EXACT Title or Number). • Search for a course by department using the pull down menu.

  11. Course Finder Institution Data Set • If you know the EXACT Course Title or Number you can search by typing that in the fields provided.

  12. Course Finder Institution Data Set • You can also search for a course description by department.

  13. Course descriptions with several options • TES offers you more than just a course description: • You can: view an institution’s profile, go to their website or look at the PDF of their catalog • You can: print the course description. • Email the course description to a member of the LOBOTrax Transfer Team for evaluation at: tes1@unm.edu • You can: view the most recent version of a class or the oldest version of a class • You can: display all versions of a course, view existing equivalencies for a course, or conduct a course equivalent search
