  1. Introduction to the workshop Experts’ meeting for the technical validation of the regional harmonized strategy for the implementation of the Great Green Wall for the Sahara and the Sahel Initiative Banjul, The Gambia, 19-20 April 2012

Meeting objectives • Review and technically validate the draft regional harmonized strategy for the implementation of the GGWSSI Sessions: all day1 + morning of day 2 • Review and decide on contents • Enrich the document with additional concrete proposals • Validate the revised version including proposals and inputs • Submit to the AUC the validated version for final approval

Review the status of the partnership platforms and identify the way forward (working groups sessions – 1st day afternoon) • Partnership building and resources mobilization platform in support to the GGWSSI • Capacity Development strategy and programme in support to the GGWSSI • Knowledge management, e-learning and exchange on best practices • Communications strategy and programme in support to the GGWSSI • Monitoring and evaluation for the GGWSSI

Meeting objectives • Mapping and overview on current and future initiatives/ plans from main actors and partners in support to the GGWSSI • What is happening in each country and at regional level: what (projects, programmes, etc), where, who (lead and partners), when • Discuss and agree on how best to facilitate coordination and flow of information, how can we help each other (One matrix to be shared and updated, code of conduct and tools to do so, coordinated steering committee ?)
