Dropping a Class • 6 Drop Limit • Drop deadlines • September 11 – Last day to drop and receive a full refund, drop will not count toward 6-drop limit • October 4 – Last day to drop without academic penalty • October 31 – Last day to drop a class • Dropping below 12 hours • Will no longer be full-time, may affect Financial Aid

Dropping a Class • W or WF? – Designated by the instructor • W = Passing grade at the time of drop • Does not count toward GPA • Is not considered “first attempt” for nursing • WF = Failing grade at the time of drop • Does not count toward 6-drop limit • DOES count toward GPA • DOES count as “first attempt” for nursing • It is better to receive an F than a WF!

  10. Repeating a Class • Use most recent grade for nursing GPA • Does not give you a second chance at “first attempt” preference • Three-peat rule • Taking a class for the third or more time, you will be charged higher tuition

Withdrawing from TWU • If you are withdrawing from ALL courses for the semester • Medical withdrawal (temporary physical or psychological condition which prevents you from completing the semester) • File paperwork with Student Life • Also check with: • Bursar/Cashier • Financial Aid • Housing • Office of International Education

  12. Withdrawing from TWU • Aug 23 – Last day to withdraw and receive full refund (minus matriculation fee) • Oct 4 – Last day to withdraw without academic penalty • Oct 31 – Last day to withdraw

  13. Withdrawal Form Fill out the information Form is available on Student Life website: www.twu.edu/ student-life-office You sign Fill out only if academic penalty date has passed Student Life fills out & signs

  14. Registering for Spring • Freshmen (less than 30 hours completed) MUST meet with an advisor before registering. Make your appointment early! • Oct 29 – Early registration begins for athletes, veterans, honors, resident assistants & peer advisors • Nov 26 – Early registration begins for all freshmen
