  2. Purpose of Attack on Pearl Harbor • Japan wanted power and military expansion. • They wanted rich resources. • They were angry at us. • Japan realized that only the U.S. Navy could stop them.

  3. Effects of attack on Pearl Harbor • 2,403 people died • 347 planes were damaged or destroyed • About 33 ships were destroyed or sunk • Japanese - Americans were disgraced • They were thrown into interment camps • Japan lost some of their military vehicles

  4. Lingering Effects on Japanese Americans • A lot of people were arrested and sent to interment camps • They lost their jobs • The men’s job were left vacant • They struggled for money • Schools were closed temporarily because of damage and safety

  5. Solutions used to cease the war • The U.S. dropped atomic bombs on two Japanese islands • The U.S. island hopped • We cracked their military code • We killed a lot of Japanese people

  6. Harry S. Truman’s decision to drop to bombs on Japan • Yes we agree because • They could of attacked the U.S. again • Japan might not of surrendered and it might have been different today • They could of bombed us • They could of taken over the world • They cost the U.S. many innocent lives
