  5. SKIES - Spirited Kids in Engineering and Science provides many “wow” and “how” science and engineering experiences to the K-5 Student

  6. Middle School EngineeringCamp (E-Camp) Girls and boy get a chance to learn about and experience hands-on engineering in a fun and supportive environment

  8. Latino Middle School Camp • Hosted in the Salem area by OSU Extension and Mario Magana • Residential 1-week camp • Skip Rochefort and undergraduates provide instruction • 80 students

AWSEMAdvocates for Women in Science, Engineering & Math • An after-school club for middle school girls • Members meet every other Saturday to explore science and engineering through hands-on activities and visits to research labs • A Saturday Academy Program • Instructors: OSU undergraduate women

  10. SESEYSummer Experience in Science & Engineering for Youth • 9-11th graders • One week residential camp on OSU campus • Especially serves women and minorities • Directed by Skip Rochefort (ChE) • Continuously since 1996

How To Get Started in K-12 Outreach *Find an interested Faculty member or Campus Outreach Program - need $$$ -- NSF broader impact! *Develop some simple and fun activities - SAP in baby Diapers; gel beads; reaction car competition *Contact some local K-12 teachers - K-5 classroom visits are FUN! - Middle School visits are challenging! - High School visits are unpredictable??? - 9 &10 grade integrated science classes - AP Chemistry, Physics, Math * Join in Science Fairs & Community Events
