  2. Issues Differential rates of subsidy under C.S.S’s. Support for bringing extension reforms (Public Extension Skelton). Macro Management – Percentage for new interventions to be raised. NATP pilot project needs expansion in Phase-II covering more districts sustainability.

  3. Crop-wise Performance in Kharif, 2004 (in lac tons)

Major Constraints in Achieving Results 80% area rainfed. Kharif crops performance depends upon Monsoon (45% Deficit). During June-August, 8 Districts received deficient rain, 2 Districts scanty, out of 12 Districts. Dry spell from end of August- September causing further damage. 23,000 ha. Area remained unsown. Overall crop damage 30-35%. Damage > 50% in 78,000 hectare.

  5. Targets for Rabi 2004-2005

  6. Strategy for Rabi 90-100% coverage of area under H.Y.V. to be ensured. 60,000 qtls. HYV Seeds of Wheat to be distributed, S.R.R. 17%. Ensuing adequate availability of other production inputs. To promote efficient irrigation through sprinklers.

  7. To ensure adequate credit through financial Institutions, KCC. Management of weeds and pest through I.P.M. Promoting on farm water management. 20,000 hectare Watershed areas to get focussed attention for increasing productivity.

  8. Success Stories/ Best Practices/ New Interventions Crop diversification through project approach, escort services. Community participation in cost sharing, O&M in Water Management. Farm women empowerment for decision making (550 Groups).

  9. Soil health cards (50% farmers covered). Constitution and Capacity building of 1,738 SHG/ FIG for marketing and value addition. 22 success stories developed, documented under NATP. Replication.
