  3. Expanding the Concept • In moving towards Disaster Risk Reduction it is imperative that small island states not lose focus on Preparedness and Response • Preparedness and Response is not equal to being responsive • Preparedness and Response is a platform for Mitigation and Risk Analysis

  4. Community Parish National Sub- Regional Regional Local Governance Mechanism Agencies Private Sector NGO/CBO Framework for Emergency Risk Management

  5. Key Strategies • Establish the baseline for improving response standards • Build out hard and soft infrastructure for DRM Communications and Information sharing • Reducing unplanned development and urbanisation

  6. Involvement in Joint Decision Making Extent of Integration between Partners

  7. Conclusion • Culture of resilience • Change in practices and processes that emerges out of relationships • Renewed look at how investment in infrastructure, economy and social structures • Keep the focus on mainstreaming DRRM CCA and the Environment
