  3. Cumin black (Cuminun cyminum L.) Its flowers are small, white or pinky, arranged in compounded umbels. Its fruit is diachene, arranged in two joined oblong and hastate mericarps, with a yellowish-brownish hairy surface. The parts which are used are the ripen and dried fruits of cumin. 4. Cumin black (Cuminun cyminum L.) Cumin can be sown in lands with an altitude up to 1200 m. It develops in sandy-clayish soils, soft, deep, permeable, and fertile. Cumin resists at temperatures of -4°C, and can be sown in a tempered climate, but it should be protected against wind. 5. Cumin black (Cuminun cyminum L.) It reproduces itself exclusively through seeds. 1000 seeds weight 3.14g, with a maximum germination percentage of 80%, 20°C, in 18 days in laboratories. 6. Cumin black (Cuminun cyminum L.) For soil management is necessary to plough deeply (30-40 cm), in order to ensure a good drainage in the root system of the plant. Then, the soil must be harrowed. Then seeds are sown with 3cm under the soil. The seed rate varies between 5-8 Kg/ha, with spacing between cultivars' rows of 0.5-0.7m. 7. Cumin black (Cuminun cyminum L.) It is sown in the middle of April, when rime-frosts are not expected. Only plant louses and ants are known as pests that may attack cumin crops. Cumin is often used in organic farming because it allows the soil to become softer. 9. Cumin black (Cuminun cyminum L.) Harvesting is done when the fruits have a yellowish colour, and should be done in order to avoid the fall of seeds to the soil. In the beginning of July, umbels should be cut in the morning, with the purpose of drying, select and calibrate them.
