  1. Child & Spousal support

  2. What matters in child & spousal support The matter of child support Child support is money that one parent pays to the other parent in order to provide for the child’s needs, such as food, clothing, housing, daycare, or activities. Obligor is the legal term for the parent who is ordered to pay child support. An Obligee is the parent receiving child support. #child_support

  3. The Matter of Spousal Maintenance In Texas, there is a distinction between spousal maintenance and contractual alimony. Spousal maintenance may be ordered by the court, while contractual alimony can only be agreed upon by the parties. Spousal maintenance is periodic payments from the future income of one spouse for the support of another spouse following divorce. The ability to obtain spousal maintenance is limited in Texas. #child_support_application

  4. The court may order spousal maintenance based upon a number of factors, including: education and employment skills of the spouses; duration of the marriage; the ability of a spouse to earn income sufficient to meet his/her minimum reasonable needs; or assets that the requesting spouse has to meet his/her minimum reasonable needs. It is imperative to consult a lawyer to ascertain which factors would affect a specific case. #child_support_back_pay
