  3. Rider Details • Punky Brewster has a 6 foot head start and takes 4 seconds to travel 10 feet. • The Bald Biker travels at 10 feet each 2.5 seconds. • Howard waits 2 seconds before moving and it takes him 2seconds to go 10 feet.

  4. Who is leading after 2 seconds? Who is leading after 6 seconds? Do you have enough information to know who wins?

  5. Does The Bald Biker pass Punky Brewster? When? Justify your answer.

  6. Does Howard pass The Bald Biker? Where? Justify your answer.

  7. Does Howard pass Punky Brewster? When? Justify your answer.

  8. Find a length the race would need to be for the Rider you picked to be the winner.

  9. Create a graph of all three riders on one set of axes, if you have not already done so. What quantity should go on the x-axis? How do you want to scale the axis? What quantity should go on the y-axis? How do you want to scale the axis?

  10. Look at the solutions to the previous questions in terms of the graph.

  11. Classroom Discussion Compare and Contrast using tables and using graphs to answer the questions. Which do you prefer? Explain your thinking.

  12. Where could you put the finish line to have the most exciting finish? Explain your reasoning.
