  1. Recycler RF for g-2 David Wildman Accelerator Physics Center

  2. Requirements from C. M. Bhat and J.A. MacLachlan* • 2.5 MHz (h=28) = 80 kV • 5 MHz (h=56) = 16 kV • Broadband RF (sawtooth) = 4 kV * Beams Doc 3192-V1

  3. 80 kV at 2.5 MHz 16kV at 5 MHz • Present systems 75 kV/ 15kV • Duty factor is increased by X1000 • RF cavities must be rebuilt for additional cooling • During rebuild switch from 6 to 8 cavities • Reuse large 4M2 cores (20” OD) • Relocate systems to MI-30. • Cost ~ $700k

  4. Broadband RF = 4 kV peak • Present system is 2 kVpeak, 10 kHz to 100MHz • Duplicate existing system • Cost ~ $1150k

  5. Conclusions 1.) Uses existing technology 2.) Expensive -- installed cost ~ $1850k
