Fact Family. – A group of facts that are a family and share the same numbers. Fact Families for addition and subtraction. The 6, 3, 9 Family. 6+3=9 3+6=9. 9-6=3 9-3=6. Relationship. The situation or fact of being related; connected or associated. Model.

  4. How Much?How Many? • Asking for an amount or quantity • If Sally fed each bird 2 slices of bread. How many slices of bread did she feed all of the birds?

  5. Addition Add • Joining or combining together

  6. Count On • Begin with the largest number and count on up until you have used up all of the smaller number.

  7. Doubles • These are "easy" to learn because the number is just doubled. • 1 + 1 =2 • 2 + 2 = 4 • 3 + 3 = 6 • 4 + 4 = 8

  8. Sum • The total or whole amount when combining two amounts. • 6 + 4 = 10 sum

  9. JoinPut Together • Combining two or more numbers. • The man walked two barking dogs and two quiet dogs. How many dogs did he walk in all?

  10. PlusPlus Sign Plus: to increase by the adding two numbers. 4 + 3 = 7 Plus sign: Used to show addition.

  33. Count Down • Begin with the largest number and count back until you have used up all of the smaller number.

  34. Take Away Ten • When taking away ten from a number the ten’s place decreases by ten. • 13 – 10 = 3 • 40 – 10 = 30 • 56 – 10 = 46
