Profile of Ballymun • Population Ballymun DED: 19,483 (Source, CSO 2006) • Low level of educational attainment and low income • Unemployment Rate (ILO): 2002 • Ballymun 18.3% • Nationally 4.5% • Ballymun Job Centre (BJC): NGO, established 1986 due to very high levels of unemployment, social and economic exclusion • 79% of BJC clients are under 35

Organisational Philosophy • A local person-centred organisation • A collaborative organisation, linking local community, employers, government, training agencies and educational institutes • A creative organisation seeking innovative ways to address unemployment and to raise the skills, education and aspirations of individuals living in Ballymun • A learning organisation sharing its experience and knowledge
