  1. Green River Fish Fossils Supplying Fossil Fish Murals and Stone Products for Interior Design The Green River Stone Company offers the finest in natural art fossil fish and stone products. Our medium is fossil-rich calcium carbonate shale from our private quarry in Southwestern Wyoming. From this stone, deposited 50 million years ago as sediment in a large freshwater lake, we produce individual fossil specimens, artistic fossil murals, and other stone products for museums, private collectors, interior designers and architects. All fossil fish are collected and prepared in adherence to strict guidelines established by the American Association of Paleontological Suppliers Code of Ethics, State and Federal Laws. Green River Stone Company Internationally known for museum quality fossils and expert old world craftsmanship, Green River Stone produces one-of-a-kind wall murals, tables, countertops and tiles for our customers. We are an American company dedicated to the creation of timeless works of art and design using fossil-rich limestone. The stone is harvested from our private quarry in southwestern Wyoming, then transported to our fossil preparation labs in Logan Utah where each product is built by hand.

  2. Quarry The Green River Stone quarry is located in the high desert of southwestern Wyoming. Fifty million years ago the quarry site was a tropical freshwater lake teeming with fish, plants, and other animals. Over many millennia, the lakebed petrified into layer upon layer of fossil rich stone. Each summer a crew from Green River Stone Company travels to the quarry to collect its prehistoric treasures. To reach the fossil-rich stone they must first remove many tons of loose rock and shale with heavy equipment. As the crew gets closer to the fossil bearing layers, the stone is harvested with only hammers, chisels, and strong muscles. Relief Preparation Natural fossil preparation incorporates the use of small hand tools; air chisels, sandblasters, and picks to remove thin layers of stone that cover the fossil. Our artisans have perfected this craft over many years. The result of their labor is a highly detailed finished fossil, where the backbone, ribs, and skull, are raised in shallow relief. The stone and fossils show wonderful texture and color. Natural Fossil Preparation is the technique used to produce our famous fossil murals in relief. Murals Green River Stone Company maintains an ongoing collection of beautiful, one-of-a-kind fossil murals. Murals currently available are displayed on the website and are available for immediate shipment, for delivery within two weeks.

  3. Tables Coffee Table Console Table Cocktail Table Side Table Fossil Tiles Green River Stone fossil tiles can add a much-needed focal point to any room. They are ideal for kitchen backsplashes, shower walls, floors, bathrooms, and wall cladding, in both commercial and residential interiors. These one of a kind fossil tiles are cut and finished by hand and are versatile in their applications. Our Fossil Lake Collection offers a selection of pre-made tiles. Please browse our collection of fossil tile, or contact us for information about your custom project needs. Kitchen-Bath Countertops Green River Stone Company’s countertops, island tops, and bar tops, are truly remarkable! They bring nature into the home in a most unique and beautiful way. When a stone especially suitable for a countertop is found in our quarry, that stone is taken out of the ground with that use in mind. Such a slab would contain strong fossil content, be structurally sturdy, and show good coloration. Our company prizes these larger and harder to find fossil slabs.

  4. Vanity Tops Vanity tops made from our fossil stone offer function, beauty, and high design in a most natural material. Green River Stone designs these fossil stone tops to accommodate the sink location, faucet location, and all other design elements. We select the stone with the final product in mind. The vanity top can be supplied with a matching backsplash. Green River Stone can supply a custom vanity top to fit your space. These handmade tops are available in a variety of stone colors and sizes. Backsplashes A backsplash created from Green River Stone becomes a functional, timeless, work of natural art. Each is unique, and each is designed with function and room integration in mind. Our staff can assist you in selecting the perfect hand finished stone for your job. Fossil stone backsplashes can be constructed from small or large tiles selected for their color, finish, and fossil content, or they can be created from a single continuous slab of stone. All of the stone is supplied with a hand rubbed sealer designed to protect the stone against stains. For more information please visit http://www.greenriverstone.com
