  1. The Columbus Medical Marijuana Growing Industry The Columbus Medical marijuana meetup is collecting pictures of Ohio cannabis discarded for CAN! recycling project. This Greenville News Sentinel article states that the state of Ohio is considering making recreational marijuana legal. "If it passes, marijuana would be controlled as regular medication and could be sold in state-owned stores and licensed clinics," the article states. Currently in Ohio marijuana is not considered legal; rather, it is illegal to use marijuana "while driving." Recently the Ohio House passed House Bill 1040, which will make possession of up to three ounces of marijuana a violation punishable by one year in jail and/or a large fine. The Upper Arlington Medical Cannabis Doctor Supreme Court has ruled that five Columbus-area Columbus-based Ohio medicinal marijuana suppliers were guilty of illegally distributing medicinal marijuana, the Columbus News- Cavity reports. The five individuals were sentenced based on their connection to a criminal drug ring that supplied marijuana. Two men and two women were each sentenced to one to four years in prison. The Ohio State Attorney General's Office says that the convictions should be vacated due to errors in the prosecution of the case. The Columbus Medical Marijuana Grower's Association is collecting funds for can distribution in Franklin County. The association is concerned that the charges being sought against five individuals may be disproportionate to the quantity of seized cannabis found at their residences. Columbus is one of the historically blackest cities in the country and the number of black Columbus Medical cannabis users is double the city's population. The five suspects are

  2. all former Columbus Medical cannabis users who were caught with un- prescribed amounts of cannabis. Each of the suspects were additionally found to have handguns in their residence. The brain injury case was actually for the murder of a Columbus man. Frank McKinney, a local resident, was murdered outside of his home by an intoxicated person. In connection to the brain injury, the Columbus Medical cannabis growers believe that the suspect had a stress disorder and got high prior to committing the homicide. This is not the first time that the brains of Columbus Medical cannabis users have been in question. Last year, a grand jury decided not to indict a city police officer who was caught on tape using force against three men who were walking down a sidewalk. A grand jury saw fit to disregard the audio recording that showed the officer arresting the three men without causing them any injury or harm. The officers' dashcam video captured McKinney's deadly mistake as he opened fired, hitting one of the men in the head with a gun pointed at his forehead. Frank McKinney, the deceased victim, suffered a severe brain injury due to the police officer's mistake. The grand jury saw fit to ignore the audio recording because it did not sway them from indicting the officers for criminal charges of aggravated assault and battery. This is yet another example of why medical marijuana has become a controversial issue across the country. Some people believe that it is so closely tied to the minds of people that it can never be viewed as anything less than medicine. However, others are starting to see that the use of medical marijuana has helped many people to escape the grips of life-altering illnesses and diseases. If people who suffer from serious ailments can find relief through medical marijuana, then we are doing a great deal for their health and well-being.
