  1. Methodologies for how to start and approaching shifts in congregational life navigating Change

  2. The five len’s :Circles of engagement: Setting: Where are we? Strategy/Status : What are we? Style: How do we do things here? Story: Who are we? Spirituality/Theology: whose are we? Each group is invited to respond to the above questions and then over a t/c period review each others answer.

  3. Health Check • Robert Warrensuggests a Health Check for each congregation. Use the Healthy Church or Natural Church development materials to: • energize the faith, • promote an outward looking focus; • seek to work out what God wants;   • face the cost of growth/change; • learn to  operate as a community; • make room for all;   • do a few things, but do them well!

  4. Time line: by using Mappingwe can ‘Map from founding vision to dreams’, -Above the line we note the memorable events/celebrations, -Below the line struggles hiccups/brick walls. Mappingmeans : Finding facts, community survey, praying, listening to community, working together, seeing the ‘big picture’ culture “Listening opens people’s eyes”

  5. Conversation with the congregation ‘Feedback session’ after worship have an occasion check out of how people are thinking about church life. This introduces a structure to the conversation.

  6. Lasswels method of communication Who? What? (says what) To whom? (audience) By what means? (methodology) To what effort (action)

  7. Tea Spoon the ‘thank-you’s’= good things, the ‘sorry’s = the things we’d hoped for/did not happen the ‘pleases’ =the vision we would like to be going from where we are now
