EGO • The “I” or self of any person; a person as thinking, feeling, and willing, and distinguishing itself from the selves of others and from objects of its thought. • Psychoanalysis: The part of the psychic apparatus that experiences and reacts to the outside world and thus mediates between the primitive drives of the id and the demands of the social and physical environment. • Egotism; conceit; self-importance: “Her ego becomes more unbearable each day.”

  4. Ego: why discuss it? To what degree am I driven by my ego? How can we raise humble children (i.e., children with healthy egos). How can we keep Jesus as the focus in the church? Caution: “You’re so vain, you probably think this sermon is about you.”

  5. Jesus heals, commends, challenges, confronts. Matthew 8 & 9 What’s the point?
