  2. WHAT isaccessibility? Accessibility = Creating the prerequisites to enable people with disabilities to participate in public life Acoustic accessibility = Enhanced independence in public life for people with hearing loss THROUGH hearing without any background noise in “public spaces“ Mag. Tanja Reichl - hörwelt GmbH

  3. WHAT is accessibility good FOR? • It is often impossible for citizens to overcome structural, acoustic or visual barriers in so-called “public spaces“without support, even if they use their own high-tech assistive aids. • Therefore government programs are required to either eliminate such barriers or ensure that they can be overcome, so that no citizen is discriminated against thereby. • Appropriate measures must be implemented or appropriate equipment in all its institutions must be provided. Mag. Tanja Reichl - hörwelt GmbH

  4. HOW does acoustic accessibility work? Technical solutions for acoustic accessibility: Induction loop systems Infrared sound systems FM transmission systems Barrier-free hearing systems enable people with hearing aids to move through and again enjoy the activities of daily living in public spaces without restrictions / disturbing noise floor. Result: The best possible transmission of speech to the hearing aid the hearing aid is adapted to the individual hearing ability. Mag. Tanja Reichl - hörwelt GmbH

  5. inductiontechnology Uses: • Audio induction loop systems for private and public facilities • Face-to-face communication in counseling areas (desk systems) e.g.: Bank counters, front desks, information desks, customer advisory service, etc… • Rooms for seminars and events in all sizes e.g.: Theater, opera house, cinema, outdoor event locations, museum, … • Vehicle fittings e.g.: Taxi, tour bus, train, airplane, … • Gate intercoms, elevators, … Mag. Tanja Reichl - hörwelt GmbH

  6. HOWdoesinductionWORK? • Problem with hearing aids: Poor speech recognition despite advanced technology hearing aids • Solution induction loop systems: Direct signal is picked up by the telecoil of the hearing aid blocking distractive noise. • What is the hearing aid user required to do? Approximately 85% of hearing aids (BTE) are equipped with a telecoil. It is the reduction loop receiver – the wearer must move a small switch and a clear acoustic signal is heard Mag. Tanja Reichl - hörwelt GmbH

  7. Audio induction loop systemsSetting: Desk systems Mag. Tanja Reichl - hörwelt GmbH

  8. AppHear • Problem deli counter / communication in the supermarket without any background noise • AppHear: Mobile hearing aid attachable to shopping carts for communication in all kind of supermarkets Mag. Tanja Reichl - hörwelt GmbH

  9. AppHear- benefits • App hearisvery simple touse • Itcaneasilybefittedas an accessorytoanyshoppingcart, makingshoppingcentersacousticallyaccessible. • Nomoreacousticalchallanges in shoppingcenters – clearunderstandingoftheimportantinformation • No restrictions for employees in the daily working environment • Saves time andcosts • No elaborate and expensive induction loop system installation in the supermarket Mag. 11. How does AppHear work in the field • The entrance is marked with the pictogram indicating that a barrier-free hearing aid system is available Mag. Tanja Reichl - hörwelt GmbH

  12. How does AppHear work in the field • The shopping carts equipped with AppHear are located near the entrance. A poster explains their function and use Mag. Tanja Reichl - hörwelt GmbH

  13. How does AppHear work in the field • The hearing aid user switches the hearing aid to induction mode • AppHear is activated by moving the shopping cart • Barrier-free shopping without any background noise is now possible • Recharchingtheaccumulatortakes placeovernight Mag.
