  1. Guide for Guitar Maintenance: Vital Tips to Maintain Your Guitar Guitars are fairly low maintenance musical instruments. However, it requires periodic maintenance. Looking after your guitar is a key factor for improving the longevity of the instrument. Not just that, it is important for the enhancement of its appearance and sound. Therefore, every guitarist should practice a few guitar maintenance steps in order to keep it in good shape. Below we have made a list of a few guitar maintenance tips that ensure your instrument performs the best for the coming years. 1. Changing of strings is a must – You need to change your guitar strings on a regular basis. There is no doubt about it. This helps in making the sound of the instrument crisp and full as strings tend to lose their sound quality over time. Hence, it is important to understand that the more you play guitar, the faster you need to change your strings. 2. Wash hands before you play – Your hands might have oil, dead skin, or dirt that can get transferred to the guitar if you play it with dirty hands. The accumulation of dirt from hands on the fretboard and strings is one of the primary factors of dead strings. Hence, make sure to wash your hands prior to playing your instruments to keep the grime off the fretboard.

  2. 3. Clean the fretboard – During a string change, you can take the opportunity to clean the fretboard. The grime on the fretboard can get into the fret grooves that can cause wear. Hence, just take a clean cloth and gently remove any dust or dirt on the fretboard. Do not rush and do this one by one to get the gunk off. 4. Wipe the strings and use oil – Make sure to wipe up the strings after use. Use some string oil for this as it helps to keep the dirt away and make the strings smoother and easier to play. Just grab a clean cotton cloth and dust off the guitar case. Wipe up each of the strings so that they are clean. Follow this process after each session so that the durability of the strings increases with time. 5. Check neck straightness – Make sure to have a look at how straight the guitar neck is. Don’t know how to do it? Simply hold the guitar on the ground with the neck up and then look down. If your instrument has a large bow in it, then it is time that you need to change it via the truss rod. The Bottom Line – Maintaining a guitar is not a very tough task. However, you need to make sure that you follow the right step for guitar maintenance to increase its longevity. The above- mentioned guide includes all the tips that can help you keep your guitar clean and enhance its sound and tuning. From the guitar strings to the fretboard, this post includes everything that you need to know about guitar maintenance.
