  3. History of Muilden • 953 when Otto I, Holy Roman Emperor granted the settlement & toll rights to Cathedral of Saint Martin • It was called Amuda meaning the mouth of the river • A is the oldest name for the river • 1673 the sea lock went form being located in Fort Hinderham to Muilden
