Customer Overview • “For more than 100 years, Dresser-Rand has been among the largest global suppliers of rotating equipment solutions, with field-proven centrifugal and reciprocating compressors, steam turbines, expanders, gas turbine packages, and control systems.” • Produce equipment worldwide for companies within the oil and gas, chemical, petrochemical, process industries. • Olean facility is 2 hours Southwest of Rochester.

  3. Customer Needs • The goal of the project is to reduce cycle time of the Piping and Packaging line. • Products can be assembled in 16 days but are taking 2-3 months • Currently, there is a 2 year backlog of orders for Dresser-Rand’s products. • Maintain a high level of safety for the employees. • Free up some floor space within the plant.

Approach to solutions • Implement lean production techniques into the piping and packaging line in order to reduce the cycle time of final assembly. • P-D-C-A: Establish a baseline, implement solutions, verify/analyze results. • Simulation/modeling • Factory CAD • Part Family Assessment/Custom Tooling/ Accuracy of Drawings
