  10. PERSIST • Never Quit

  11. PERSIST • Persistence is stubbornness with a purpose.

  12. PERSIST • Examples: • Albert Einstein did not speak until he was 4 years old and did not read until he was 7. His parents thought he was "sub-normal," and one of his teachers described him as "mentally slow, unsociable, and adrift forever in foolish dreams." He was expelled from school and was refused admittance to the Zurich Polytechnic School. He did eventually learn to speak and read. Even to do a little math. Never quit!

  13. PERSIST • Henry Ford failed and went broke five times before he succeeded. Never quit!

  14. PERSIST • R. H. Macy failed seven times before his store in New York City caught on. Never quit!

  15. PERSIST • Michael Jordan: Most people wouldn’t believe that a man often lauded as the best basketball player of all time was actually cut from his high school basketball team. Luckily, Jordan didn’t let this setback stop him from playing the game and he has stated, “I have missed more than 9,000 shots in my career. I have lost almost 300 games. On 26 occasions I have been entrusted to take the game-winning shot, and I missed. I have failed over and over and over again in my life. And that is why I succeed.” Never quit!

  16. PERSIST • Babe Ruth is famous for his past home run record, but for decades he also held the record for strikeouts. He hit 714 home runs and struck out 1,330 times in his career Never quit!

  17. PERSIST • Walt Disney was fired by a newspaper editor because "he lacked imagination and had no good ideas." He went bankrupt several times before he built Disneyland. In fact, the proposed park was rejected by the city of Anaheim on the grounds that it would only attract riffraff.

  18. PERSIST • After his first audition, Sidney Poitier was told by the casting director, "Why don't you stop wasting people's time and go out and become a dishwasher or something?" It was at that moment, recalls Poitier, that he decided to devote his life to acting.

  19. PERSIST • Oprah Winfrey: Most people know Oprah as one of the most iconic faces on TV as well as one of the richest and most successful women in the world. Oprah faced a hard road to get to that position, however, enduring a rough and often abusive childhood as well as numerous career setbacks including being fired from her job as a television reporter because she was “unfit for TV.”

She survived on welfare in an apartment infested with mice and wrote in cafés to help her baby fall asleep. Her novel Harry Potter was rejected by 12 publishing houses.

  22. PERSIST • What would happen if you spent time in the presence of God everyday for no less than 90 days straight? • What would happen if you invested teamwork and friendship with someone? Who is on the same team?

  23. PERSIST • What would happen if you spent no less than 12 consecutive weeks investing your money in the Kingdom of God? • What if 20 people came to Christ because of you and your team?
