  2. E- GOVERNANCE It is the application of electronic means in governance ie. The interaction between government and citizens and government and businesses

  3. OBJECTIVES: • Provide access to information and knowledge about the political process and services • Fulfill public’s needs and expectations in the front office side. • To facilitate efficient and effective process for administrative activities.

  4. MAJOR EGOVERNANCE PROJECTS IN INDIA

  5. MCA 21, services portal It provides secure online access to various services like: downloading e-forms registration of new companies annual fillings payment of penalty etc. www.mca.gov.in

  6. 2. Indian Passport Office It helps citizens in passport related tasks and queries by providing them services and information at their homes www.passport.gov.in

  7. 3. Income Tax Portal It helps in the following: preparing and filling of individual Income tax returns and TDS returns  filling and tracking of PAN applications  status enquiry of taxes paid in banks  access to taxation rules www.incometaxindia.gov.in

  8. National Portal of India The objective is to enable a single window access to information and services being provided by the various Indian government entities. www.india.gov.in

  10. Societal Impacts • Reducing number of trips to govt offices • Reducing waiting time • Reducing bribes • Portals like rti.gov.in provide information that was kept under wraps earlier. • Makes authorities answerable for their responsibilities and duties

  12. These programs have improved the efficiency of service delivery. It has resulted in reduced waiting time. Led to reduced cost of availing services. Helped in keeping tab on corruption It has resulted in increased transparency and accountability of the government officials.

  14. Lack of awareness has prevented people in remote and rural areas to benefit from it. Incompatibility of hardware and software has prevented people to fully benefit from it. Online payments have security issues. At times the web sites are really working slow.

  16. Electronic Commerce or E-business describes the process of buying, selling, transferring or exchanging products, services and / or information via computer networks, including the internet. For example: Online direct marketing, online auctions, Electronic marketplaces etc.

  17. Types of business organizations: Brick and Mortar organization: pure physical Virtual organization: companies engaged only in E-business Click and mortar organizations: are companies involved in both physical as well as e-business

Yatra.com portal: www.yatra.com It provides online airline reservation along with hotels, tourist packages etc. 3. Life Insurance Corporation of India: www.licindia.com It caters to various life insurance needs of people.

  22. Negative Impacts… Even after telecom boom internet connectivity is still slow, access costs are high and connections are unreliable. Multiple issues of trust. Online buyers do not get the quality At times havoc is caused on innocent lives with their private information

  23. E- LEARNING E-learning is a flexible term used to describe a means of teaching through technology such as a network, browser, CDROM or DVD multimedia platforms.

  25. MAJOR E-LEARNING SITES www.moodle.org: Also known as learning management system. The focus is always on giving educators the best tools to manage and promote learning. www.W3schools.com: It is a free e-learning portal containing online web tutorials regarding web building.

  26. 3. www.exelearning.org: It assists teachers and academics to publish web content without being proficient in HTML or XML. 4. www.coffee-soft.org: It helps us create a digital classroom. It can be easily installed on any local network and thus help us create a face to face problem solving challenge.

  27. Benefits to the trainer: Reduce overall cost They progress faster than traditional courses Easily managed for large group of students It can be updated easily and quickly

  28. Benefits to the learner: The lessons are available any time and at any location. Learning is self paced hence various programs can be taken whenever needed The self motivation engages users, pushing them through training Reference material is available on just one click.

  29. Disadvantages for the trainer: Huge investment is required due to development and maintenance costs Technological issues regarding the ever changing hardware and softwares in case of compatibility Cultural acceptance is a major issue

  30. Disadvantages for the learner: Unavailability of technology everywhere The technology is also dependant on availability of electricity No interpersonal interaction involved between the student and the teacher

  31. Societal Impacts of E-Learning Availability of the same course to everybody across the globe. The flexibility offered by e-learning in terms of time and learning pace has proved to be a boon to the working class. Examples used in the course might result in a cultural shock for many. High dropout rate of students
