Haverford Middle School • 6th, 7th, & 8th grade students • 1,315 students • Over 100 teachers and staff members • Interscholastic sports in 7th & 8th grade • Clubs and activities for all grades* • 65 million dollar renovation • TV studio • Air conditioning • Modern cafeteria • Auditorium • Multiple gyms, fitness room, turf field, and grass athletic fields • Library • Choral, band, and key board rooms • Multiple computer labs

  4. Daily SCHEDULE

  5. Teaching Teams A teaching teams is a group of teachers that share the same group of students. The team teachers meet on a daily basis to plan and discuss how their students are performing.

  6. PowerSchool PowerSchool is a web-based teacher grade book that all of our teachers use. You can view PowerSchool at any time to see what grade you earned for an individual assignment or assessment. PowerSchool will also report your overall grade for each class you have. PowerSchool features: • Student access • Parent/guardian access • View current assignments and grades • Email link to teachers

  7. Homeroom You will report to your homeroom when you enter school each morning. • 5 minutes • Attendance • Daily announcements – FORD FOCUS

  8. Advisory The Advisory Program is designed to foster student awareness and connectedness. • Wednesday • 30 minutes • Topics • Wonder, by R.J. Palacio • School Spirit • Grade level topics • Team topics • Goal setting • Awareness issues

  9. Language Arts The middle school English Language Arts program develops literacy skills essential for success in all academic areas, not just language arts classrooms. • Two periods per day • Leveled classes • Classwork • Projects • Assessments

  10. MATH The middle school Math program develops numeracy skills designed to challenge and meet individual students needs. • One period per day • Leveled classes • Classwork • Projects • Assessments

  11. Science The middle school Science program develops content area skills and are connected to our literacy and numeracy programs. • One period per day • Non-leveled classes • Classwork • Projects • Assessments

  12. Social Studies The middle school Social Studies program develop content area skills and is connected to our literacy program. • One period per day • Non-leveled classes

UNIFIED ARTS • Quarter classes • One of the following classes per quarter • Art • Health • Information Technology • Spanish • Daily Classes • One of the following classes for each day of the week • Physical Education 2 days per week • Developmental Guidance 1 day per week • Music 2 days per week

  14. Building Tour • 6th grade courtyard where you meet in the morning • 6th grade office • 6th grade classroom • Cafeteria • Gym • Library • Choral room • Computer lab • Information technology classroom • Art classroom • Developmental Guidance classroom • Spanish classroom • Band room

  15. Questions You will return to the auditorium after your building tour. 6th grade students from your school will be available to answer any questions you may have about Haverford Middle School.
