  2. Logical Levels • Robert Dilts offers an invaluable description of the different levels we operate at • He calls them neurological levels ~ these consist of • Where & when ~ Environment • What ~ Behaviour • How ~ Capability • Why ~ Beliefs & Values • Who ~ Identity

  3. Environment • Our surroundings • Who we are with • Our family • Resources • Home environment • Work environment

  4. Behaviour • This includes individual and organisational behaviours • This level is about single actions taken by anyone of us or by an organisation • Examples are individuals making decisions or interviewing; Organisations might restructure or develop an advertising campaign

  5. Capability • Capability implies skills • Without the right skills and individual would not interview very well • An organisation may attempt restructuring but fail due to the lack of capability • You all have capabilities in all aspects of your lives

  6. Beliefs and Values • This is the level of what we believe to be true and important in our lives • Guiding principles • All our decisions are made based on our beliefs and values • These form the basis of who we are ~ our identity

  7. Identity • Identity is your sense of self, your core beliefs and values • Who you are and your mission in life • Organisations and companies develop identities • These may be based on the beliefs and values of the founders e.g. Richard Branson and Virgin

  8. Identity • This is who we are as ~ • Individuals • Professionals • Children • Parents • Friends • citizens

  9. Having an Awareness • Helps to recognise at which level the person is operating at • You can learn a lot by just listening not only to what people say but how they say it. • ‘I can’t do that here ~ IDENTITIY • I can’tdo that here ~ BELIEF • I can’t do that here ~ CAPABILITY • I can’t do that here ~ BEHAVIOUR • I can’t do that here ~ ENVIRONMENT
