  2. What is a Biography • is a detailed description or account of a person's life. • it entails more than basic facts • presents a subject's life story, highlighting various aspects of his or her life, including details of experience, and may include an analysis of the subject's personality.

  3. Where Does an Artist’s Biography appear? • In show programs • On display at a show, conventions, seminars, etc. • usually accompanied by headshots • On personal or professional websites (for companies)

  4. Why do We Write Biographies? • it allows people to know about our dance background • Your training • Where you might have danced • Who you might have trained with (Big People in the Industry) • Can explain what you might aspire to be in the future • Has to cater to the audience that will be reading it • It is a resume in summary

  5. EXAMPLES • 1) Long Biography • Miss Pereira’s High School Biography • Miss Pereira’s University Bio – as a Choreographer • Miss Pereira’s University Bio – as Performer • Miss Pereira’s University Bio – as a Dance Educator • 2) Short Biography • Show Programs

  6. ACTIVITY • Find a partner. A partner that you usually don’t work with. • Complete the activity handout. Partner A will asked Partner B the questions and make jot notes of their answers. Switch roles once completed. • You just need to type up a good draft and you are done 
