How to identify and prioritize needs for training: 5 papers • A competence profile for staff supporting the European Statistical System: core areas of knowledge and skills expected of staff who support European Statistical System; • Why and how to improve competence descriptions and evaluations in a statistical institute? Some experiences from Statistics Norway; • Training programs for Statistical Competency Development in STI of Korea; • Setting up in-house training: Some issues to consider • 5th Decade of Statistical Training for Development/SIAP

  3. The papers deal with important topics European Statistical System –Learning and Development Framework ( ESS-LDF); European Statistical System Competence Profile ( ESSCP) and developed core statistical competences at the ESS level; How do we provide trainings; How do we share knowledge; What are the consequences, for the organisation and for the individual employee, when the profile of employees does not match the needs of the statistical office?In what ways can be change the profile of employees to meet the needs of the statistical offices? In what ways can be develop ,,core,,statistical competences?

Challenges faced in the field of human resource management; Identified needs for training and staff development; Framework for competence description; Relationship between competence framework and business model; In-house training; Training programs for Statistical Competency Development in STI of Korea Training Programs organized by SIAP( Core Skills Framework, Skills Development, Strengthening Partnerships)

Summary: We are facing many challenges.There is a general need to increase effectiveness and efficiency of statistical work, and Develop a strategy for human resources; Develop a sustainable strategies on national and international level on learning and development in the statistical institutions; Develop statistical competences profiles on national level; Establish tools to identify needs and competences gaps;

  6. Summary(cont.): Raise awareness among the employees concerning their own competences; Develop outcome indicators to measure training programs efficiency; Carry out monitoring and evaluations of employees skills improvements; Introduce culture of effective knowledge transfer; Team work development; Exchange of good practices;
