  2. Our Servant Lord • A Lord who washed feet – Matt 20:25ff • But who commanded the storms, healed the sick and raised the dead. He also embarrassed Pilate and silenced the rabbis. • Portrait of a believer – Col. 3:3. We follow in Jesus’ steps. A peace and focus that gives us calm. • Chains don’t bind courage and right – Gal. 2:4-5 • Paul preached in chains to his judge. Felix is the one who trembles

  3. Felix’s Reaction • A conscience viewing its crimes in light of God’s judgment. • A sinner alarmed, but not converted. • Salvation delayed – a too common occurance.

  4. An Inspired Teacher and His Subject • Righteousness, temperance and judgment. • Felix’s desire for a bribe was “normal”. • Living in adultery with Drusilla. • Greed vs. righteousness • Lust vs. temperance

  5. Rulers Should Have A High Standard for Self • To keep the respect of the people. • I Sam. 8:1-3 • Prov. 31:4-5 • Drusilla’s first husband – a king. But Felix outranked him as a Roman gov. She pursued Felix. Titus 2:3-5 • The prisoner says to the favorite of Caesar – John 5:28-29. • Heb. 4:12

  6. Felix Trembled • Not from fear of Paul – Prov. 28:1. • He was a “ruler”, expecting automatic subservience. • But even heathen know justice – Rom. 2:15 • Imagine yourself in Felix position and hearing this from Paul. • Rev. 3:17 • Ezek 21:25-27

  7. Greed and Lust • Will receive their just reward. • Matt. 25:41-46 • James 5:3 • The worldly are usually overcome by appetites. • Even the fires of hell can’t persuade.

  8. “Go Thy Way” • He could have called Paul back at a “better time.” • In fact, he did. • But once we’ve said to the Lord, “Later”, it’s easier the second time and expected the third. • Heb. 3:12-13 • 2 Cor. 6:2 • Whatever you need to do, do it now.
