  4. Brunelleschi’s Dome • 1418, Brunelleschi enters competition to design dome • Dome was constructed from 1420-1436 • The Lantern was completed in 1471 after Brunelleschi dies • 2 domes: one made of marble and sandstone, one made of brick-and-mortar

  7. Giotto's Bell Tower • Made of white, red, and green marble • Giotto worked from 1334-1337 • Completed in 1359 • 414 steps to climb • 276ft high

  8. Ghiberti’s Doors • “Gates of Paradise” • Gilt bronze • 1425-1452 • Removed from Baptistery in 1990
