  4. Cassius wants Brutus to swear and oath and he refuses. He says the cause is enough to bind them. • The group discusses whether it should try and bring the esteemed into the conspiracy for he would bring good public opinion, but Brutus says no because he’s to hard headed to follow anyone • Cassius suggests that the kill Antony (the parade runner who touched Calpurnia), but Brutus says it’s too much blood

  5. Brutus says their only threat is Caesar and he wishes there was another way besides killing • He said to kill him boldly not viciously so it looked more cause worthy • Cassius says he still fears Antony, but Brutus assures him he’s no trouble once Caesar is dead • Cassius wonders aloud if Caesar will come to the capitol after all the weird events and Decisus says that of course someone will convince Caesar to come. Brutus states they should all act like actors and hide their true feelings

  6. Brutus’s wife (Portia) enters the garden • She wonders what has been worrying Brutus because he’s been strange latelyHe tells her he’s been sick and she gets irritated with him bc as his wife she should know what’s going on • He then sucks up and says that he wishes he was worthy of having a wife like her • They hear a knock and Brutus sends her away • Ligarius enters looking sick • He says he would not be sick if he could be sure that Brutus was involved in a scheme in the name of honor • Brutus says that he is and Ligarius rejoices and accompanies Brutus offstage to hear more of the plan
