  2. What is cub scouting? • Program for boys in grades 1through 5 • Builds Character • Teaches Citizenship • Strengthens Families • Tons of FUN!

  3. What do parents want? • Bring the family together • Help the boys develop • Connect with others • Learn to get along • Build self‐confidence • Be happy!

  4. What do the boys want? • FUN! • Make new friends • Master new skills • Recognition and praise • FUN with Mom and Dad!

So how does it work? • Den Meetings –Small groups of 7-10 boys organized by grade and led by trained leaders • (Den leaders have Program Aids –Meeting tips and Monthly Themes to help them be great leaders) • Pack Meetings & Activities –Family Events combining all dens once a month • Boy’s Life – Scouting magazine just for kids first started in 1911 and mailed to your scout • Planned Scouting Events

  6. Advancement • Age based rank –Assigned by grade and a boy can start at any time • Awards and badges –Connecting effort and success • Recognition –Celebrating achievement and building self‐confidence

  8. Finances • Registration Fees • Uniform • Money Earning Projects • Family Giving –“Friends of Scouting” • United Way Support

  9. Leadership training • Youth Protection Training (Online!) • Basic Leader Training for new adult leaders • Monthly Leader’s Roundtables • Online resources and handbooks • University of Scouting –October 22nd
