  2. Who are we? • We are the Red Panda Network (RPN) • Our mission is to educate and empower local communities to get involved and conserve Red Pandas and their habitat

  3. Current conservation • The RPN is currently saving Red Pandas and their habitats in the wild. • Recently created the worlds first community based monitoring of Red Pandas called Project Punde Kundo.

  4. Celebrity Supporters • Metallica: • The band Metallica wants laws and law makers to impose change to make the world safe for their sons.

  5. Why save the Red Panda? • Red Pandas Provide clean air and water for over 1 billion people on this planet.

  6. Red Panda Facts • 42” long (including long bushy tail) Can weigh from 7-14 pounds • Related to Giant Panda (But they resemble Raccoons) • Has hair everywhere on its body-even the soles of their feet. • Eats berries, bird eggs, blossoms and small leaves of various plants, such as bamboo leaves. • Each has special markings that blend in with the mosses and lynches that grow on the trees they live in.

  7. Habitat • Shelters in hollow trees. • Lives at an elevation of two thousand to four thousand eight hundred meters high. • Range extends from western Nepal to northern Myanmar.

  8. Why is it endangered? • The Red Panda is endangered because of loss of habitat. • Only twenty-five hundred Red Pandas are left in the wild.
