Summary • NOC meeting was held on Jan. 27, in conjunction with Network Engineering Session. • 20 presentations were made: 7: End-to-end performance 7: Network Status & Plan 4: Measurement & Security based on NOC 2: others (Roaming, Sever relocation) • NOC issues were clarified. • Updates of advanced engineering as well as networks were reported. • SC is the good chance for enhancing the collaborations between researchers and NOC. Engineering Updates • 10Gbps environment issues were discussed by single-stream IPv4 Internet Land Speed Record owner: • PCI-X I/O Bus has the limitation of about 8Gbps. • SONET level errors should be clarified. • Flow control at edge devices can’t work well. • Jumbo frame over 4500 MTU doesn’t work well on the current equipments. • Measurement infrastructure should be deployed along the routes: • Observatory: a measurement infrastructure • Port capturing for analyzing the network performance • Distributed & parallel data analysis with Grid file system was reported.   6. Network Updates • Network Updates were reported: • AARNet • GrangeNet • NICT networks: JGN2 & APII • CERNET2 • SINET • Internet2’s HOPI • JP-China has been connected with 2 GbE links, and China is expected to work more for high performance activities. APAN BKK General Assembly Session
