  1. I Surrender My Will Our theme for 2013 is “I surrender all” Today we focus on our theme for this year There are some things easier to surrender than others

  2. I Surrender My Will If you asked me to surrender to you a pair of socks...No problem If you asked me to surrender my home...Problem There are some things we value much more than others

  3. I Surrender My Will A couple of weeks ago we talked about our free will Our freewill is probably the last thing on earth that we would agree to give up The thought of giving up our will Would frighten most

  4. I Surrender My Will What if the one who you surrendered your will to loved you more than anyone else? What if they only had your best interest at heart? Would you then be willing?

  5. I Surrender My Will 1. The Bible Says... • What does the Bible say about submitting to God’s will? • God has been very clear to the fact that we must obey His will • Matthew 7:21

  6. I Surrender My Will 1. The Bible Says... • “...but he who does the will of God abides forever” (I Jn. 2:17) • “For you have need of endurance, so that after you have done the will of God, you may receive the promise” (Heb. 10:36)

  7. I Surrender My Will 1. The Bible Says... • Jesus said “whoever does the will of God is My brother and My sister and mother” (Mk. 3:35) • Once we become a child of God, we no longer live for the flesh, but for God’s will (I Pet. 4:1-2)

  8. I Surrender My Will 1. The Bible Says... • The will of God must be done from the heart (Eph. 6:6) • It was the prayer of many that we do the will of God (Col. 4:12; Heb. 13:21)

  9. I Surrender My Will 2. Trust and Obey • If I were forced to surrender my will (Power of Attorney), who would I surrender it to? • Obviously Someone that I love and trust, that I know loves me! • On earth, who might that be?

  10. I Surrender My Will 2. Trust and Obey • The Question is, Do we trust that God loves us and wants what is best for us? • Has God ever broken a promise? • John 3:16

  11. I Surrender My Will 2. Trust and Obey • God’s ultimate desire is that the world be saved (II Pet. 3:9) • Romans 5:6-8 • Titus 3:4-7 • Does that sound like someone you can trust?

  12. I Surrender My Will 3. Communication Creates Clarity • It’s difficult to follow God’s will if we do not know what that will is • We may know that he loves us and commands it, but we also want to know what His will involves

  13. I Surrender My Will 3. Communication Creates Clarity • That comes only through a diligentstudy of God’s word • “Therefore do not be unwise, but understand what the will of the Lord is” (Eph. 5:17)

  14. I Surrender My Will 3. Communication Creates Clarity • How are we to be filled with the knowledge of His will? (Col. 1:9) • Paul was told that he needed to know God’s will (Acts 22:14) • All Knowledge comes through God’s word (II Tim. 3:14-17)

  15. I Surrender My Will 4. What Did Jesus Do? • It’s Humbling to think that even Christ (God in the flesh) submitted His will to the Father • “My food is to do the will of Him who sent Me, and to finish His work” (Jn. 4:34)

  16. I Surrender My Will 4. What Did Jesus Do? • John 6:38-40 • God’s will was for each one of us to be saved • Christ carried out that will on the cross (Gal. 1:4)

  17. I Surrender My Will 4. What Did Jesus Do? • the most selfless act that was ever done was by our Lord and Savior on the cross • Yet just hours before he agonized over doing that • Matthew 26:36-44

  18. I Surrender My Will 4. What Did Jesus Do? • No one ever said that doing the will of God was easy • It wasn’t so for Christ • Yet He left us an example by enduring and surrendering to God’s will
