Midwest States “Save Energy Now”Industrial Energy Efficiency Partnership Program • 2009 USDOE Solicitation under the State Energy Program Special Projects Program • Illinois DCEO/Energy Resources Center Partnership • In Cooperation with State Energy Offices in Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Minnesota, and Ohio • USDOE awarded three year funding for the effort, in July 2009, but funding was delayed.

Program Objectives • Create Dynamic Partnership Efforts between USDOE, State Energy Offices, Utilities, Energy Service Providers, Engineering Firms, Equipment Providers, Industrial Trade Associations and others to promote energy efficiency to industries in the Midwest Region. • Utilize the tools, best practices and programs developed by USDOE under their Industrial Technologies Program. • Encourage energy assessments, best practices, and capital investments for energy efficiency.

  5. Program Deliverables • Conduct Training Forums, Webinars, Conferences and other Educational events for industrial clients. • Create Templates for such events for State Energy Offices in the Midwest. • Promote federal, state, local, and Utility funding programs to industrial Clients. • Track and encourage participation in new and developing USDOE programs and Projects.

Program Goals • 200 industrial assessments over the three year project period. • Projected energy savings of 10.4 Trillion BTUs with corresponding energy savings of $85.7 million • 1.3 Million tons reduction in CO2 emissions • Transition of federal programs and partnerships form federal to regional levels

Initial Efforts and Next Steps Organize Partnerships • 25 Initial Partners signed endorsement letters for the initial proposals and are the core group. • Seeking additional partners from all entities with an interest in industrial energy efficiency. • Coordinate efforts with available ARRA funding opportunities.

Save Energy Now IndianaIndustrial Energy Efficiency Forum August 10, 2010 Indianapolis, Indiana • Today’s Forum is a major effort of our Partnership. • Follows an event in Illinois with similar Forums planned for other Midwestern States. (Iowa and Minnesota Forums scheduled for October) • Developing a team of Regional Partners to assist in this effort. We have established a process for joining the partnership on our website and invite you all to join us. • Ongoing webinars are scheduled for more detailed training on the USDOE tools.

SUPERIOR Energy Performance Pilot Project Participation in the Superior Energy Performance Pilot Program • A new USDOE effort in Energy Management and certification for industrial facilities • Implemented in coordination with the proposed ISO 50001 Effort • An ANSI accredited plant certification • More info at www.superiorenergyperformance.net • Working in partnership with DCEO, ERC, and IMEC for five Midwestern companies.
