  2. Although there are 93 counties in Nebraska, 92 are officially in an Economic District. Lancaster County is served by the City of Lincoln. Nebraska Economic Districts

History of the Nebraska Districts 1969: LB 536 created 26 planning regions across the state. 1974: LB 790 provided annual appropriations. 1978: Planning Regions formed state-wide association, NARC (Nebraska Association of Regional Councils). 1979: Task force recommended reconfiguring the 26 into 9 planning regions. 1980:NDED designated as the “State Agency for Comprehensive Planning.”

West Central Nebraska Development District (WCNDD) • SBA/IRP LOAN PROGRAM: July 2007- May 2008 • Received 33 new loan inquiries • Sent out 24 loan applications • Received 14 completed applications • Closed 6 SBA micro loans = $156,800 • Closed 5 IRP loans = $105,000 • Provided tech assistance to 40 borrowers • WCNDD drew the last $100,000 available and applied for and received another $300,000 from SBA for additional loan funds

South Central Economic Development District (SCEDD) The South Central Economic Development District is a consortium of twelve rural Nebraska counties who see improving rural economies as a regional rather than purely local issue. MISSION: The South Central Economic Development District exists to develop and promote a positive economic climate which supports regional growth.

Northeast Nebraska Economic Development District (NENEDD) MISSION: “to address regional economic development opportunities and challenges identified through a Community Economic Development Strategy” The Northeast Nebraska Economic Development District is a regional development organization that encourages cooperation between local government officials, community-based organizations and the private sector. The District provides the “link” between federal and state programs at the local level were development actually occurs.
