  2. The Republic of Lithuania It is a country in Northern Europe, the southernmost of the three Baltic states. Situated along the southeastern shore of the Baltic Sea, it shares borders with Latvia to the north, Belarus to the southeast, Poland, and the Russian exclave of Kaliningrad to the southwest. Across the Baltic Sea to the west lie Sweden and Denmark.

Kretinga is a city in the Klaipėda’s region. • It is the centre of the district. • It is located near Palanga (12 km from Kretinga to the west), which is the most popular resort town in Baltic Sea region, and Klaipeda (about 25 km from Kretinga to the east), the 3rd largest city in Lithuania and principal seaport. • Municipality of Kretinga covers 991 km of raised face area. • There are about 745 cultural heritage objects in Kretinga’s district.
