  1. •Topic :- Fractions Fractions Types of fraction Addition and subtraction of fraction Multiplication of fraction Division of fraction. Fraction : A fraction means a part of a whole or region. Fraction = Numerator Denominator For example : • Types Of Fractions: Like fractions. Unlike fractions. Proper fractions. Unit fractions. Improper fractions.

  2. Like fractions: Like fractions have the same denominator. For example: • • Comparing like fractions: • Compare the numerators of like fraction. The fraction with the greater numerator is greater. • Unlike fractions: • Unlike fractions have different denominators. • For example: • Comparing unlike fractions: Compare the denominators of unlike fractions with the same numerator. The fraction with the smaller denominator is greater. Proper fractions: Proper fractions have the numerator always less than the denominator. • For example: • Unit fractions: Unit fractions are proper fractions with 1 as the numerator. • For example: ,1/3,1/4, and 1/5 are unit fractions.

  3. Improper fractions: Improper fractions have the numerator always greater than the denominator. Improper fractions can be written as mixed fractions or mixed numbers. • For example: Important methods: Adding and subtracting mixed fraction: Multiplication of fractions We know multiplication is repeated addition. Multiplication of fractions can also be repeated addition. Multiplication of a fraction by a whole number. Multiplication of a fraction by a mixed number Adding and subraction of fraction: Adding like fractions: We can add the like fractions using the following formula. Sum of fractions = Sum of numerators Common Denominator Subtraction like fractions: We can subtract the like fractions using the following formula: Subtraction of fractions = Difference of numerators Common Denominator Adding and subtracting of unlike fractions:

  4. To add or subtract unlike fractions first we convert the fractions into equivalent fractions with a common denominator and then add and subtract like fraction. Division of fractions: Reciprocal: Two numbers are the reciprocal of each other if their product is 1. A reciprocal is also called multiplicative inverse. Method : To find the reciprocal of a fraction, interchange the numerator and denominator of the fraction. Dividing a whole number by a fraction. Dividing by using the reciprocal. Dividing of fraction by a fraction. Dividing a fraction by a whole number. Dividing of mixed number.
