Background • Rosa Parks was born in February 1913, in Alabama. • She grew up on a farm with her brother, mother and grandparents. • She worked as a seamstress after she left school. (Seamstress : a job making clothes)
Standing up for her rights • On 1st December 1955, after a tired day of work, Rosa went on to the bus. She was sitting on the bus when the bus driver ordered her to give her seat to a white man, who couldn’t find a seat in the “ White Section” of the bus. She refused to give the seat and the bus driver called the police.
An inspiration to others • Rosa was giving the name “The mother of Civil Rights Movement” • She inspired Martin Luther King and others to fight for equal rights in America.
“ I Had a right ’’ • Rosa Parks died on 24th October 2005. She will be remembered for standing up for what she believed inspiring others. Rosa says “ The real reason of my not standing up was I felt that I had a right to be treated as any other passengers. She showed the qualities of fair and responsible.
