Aux Sable Creek Watershed Plan Update • Coalition formed in 1996, completed first plan in 1999 • Rapid development necessitates update to: • Continue efforts to improve development practices • Focus on methods that prevent creek degradation • Protect our quality of life • Class A Rating • 2004 IEPA mandate for watershed plans to qualify for future funding We Save Land. Update & Strengthen • Address nine criteria of IEPA • Identify causes and sources of NPS pollution • Estimate pollutant load reductions expected following implementation • Describe measures to implement to achieve pollutant load reductions • Estimate amount of technical and financial assistance needed, associated costs, and/or the sources that can implement the plan • Public information/education component that is designed to change social behavior • Implementation schedule • Describe measurable milestones • Achievement criteria • Monitoring We Save Land.   5. Update & Strengthen (cont.) • Master Open Space/Green Infrastructure Plan • Compile all existing plans • Convert planning data into a GIS • Add existing natural areas data • Combine data into appropriate open space categories We Save Land. We Save Rivers.

Education & Outreach • Contacting landowners • Conducting educational presentations to promote updated Plan & educate on conservation design principles • Facilitating model conservation design developments • Educating local governments and public on protection & stewardship of natural areas We Save Land.
