The SchedulingProcess • January Counselors meet with all students. **Students make their initial course selections at this time and SHOULD bring home a copy of courses selected! • February Meet individually with each student to go over their course selections • March-June Teachers’ recommendations • Spring-Summer Finalized course list mailed home

  6. Advanced Placement Program • Advanced Placement courses are offered to students in all academic areas by recommendation only. • Courses are extremely challenging. • Courses culminate in mandatory AP exams. • $90 per exam. • Course is taught to a nationally recognized standard. • AP Night: Thursday, January 3rd

Junior Honor Society • Students become eligible for membership in the Junior National Honor Society upon accumulation of: • A grade point average of 90 or higher by the end of the third marking period, in 8th, 9th or 10th grade. • A faculty committee will review the application for academic, service, leadership and teacher recommendation for each candidate. • Scholar Incentive Medals • Points are accumulated from grades 9-12

  9. College Entrance Exams • PSAT/NMSQT • National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test • SAT • Math, Critical Reading, Writing • (200-800 on each section) • SAT Subject Tests • ACT Exam • The American College Test • English, Math, Reading, Science & Writing (optional) • (Composite Score 11-36)

  11. NCAA • Division 1 & Division 2 athletes must be certified through the NCAA Clearinghouse to participate. • Core course requirements and SAT/ACT scores determine certification. • Register during Junior year at www.eligibiltycenter.org

  13. DISTRICT ATTENDANCE POLICY • Credit will be denied to any student who exceeds: • 12 absences in ½ credit course • 24 absences in full credit course 3 lates = 1 absence • Cutting class = no appeal process • EVEN EXCUSED ABSENCES COUNT
