National Association Awards • Who • Anyone can nominate anyone • Submit to Alliance Association – see applications • What • See website – “www.AAHPERD.org” • Who We Are • NASPE; AAHE; NDA; APAR; RC; NAGWS • When – • Deadline for applications = October 15 • Received = National Convention – At Association events Ballinger, D.A.   6. District Association Awards • Who • Anyone can nominate anyone • Submit to D. Ballinger (or *) • What • See website – “www.AAHPERD.org” • Who We Are • Districts = Eastern • OPA, Honor*, Fantasia*, EDA Scholar*, Margaret Paulding*, Scholarships • When – • Deadline for applications = October 15 • Received = District Convention Ballinger, D.A.   7. State Association Awards • Who • Anyone can nominate anyone • Submit to States via process • What - varies • When – • Deadline for applications = see states • Received = State Convention Ballinger, D.A. May 14, 2011 EDA meeting

Alignment • State and beyond – none! • District with National Associations • District TOYs (Teachers of the Year) • Receive from Alliance and review for District winners • District winners vie for National TOYs • District with AAHPERD • We have representative on committee • Our Executive Board tries to nominate and support at least one individual for each award (done at this board meeting.) Your role – AAHPERD Recognition Awards • Council members • Make recommendations to Executive Board for Alliance Recognition awards • Encourage your states to nominate individuals for all Alliance Awards • E-Board • Nominate district members for all awards • Write letters of support for those nominated, after securing their permission and applications Ballinger, D.A. Your role – District Awards • Council members • Nominate individuals for all District Awards • Encourage state winners to complete National Association applications and send to Alliance Association by Oct. 15 • E-Board • Nominate district members for all awards • Write letters of support for those nominated, after securing their permission and applications Ballinger, D.A. Your role – District Awards • VP-elects • Serve on sub-committees to review candidates for District Awards • Work to be done between October 21 and Nov. 15 • Report/work with District Awards Chair • Rate using rubrics • Confidentiality rules • OPA all VP-elects • TOYs – chair sub-committee to review Ballinger, D.A. VP-elects, cont. • Write letters of condolence to non-selected candidates (await Board approval of selections) • Write one paragraph bio for inclusion in awards program for winners • Assist, when asked, at awards recognition ceremony • Keep non-selected OPA nominees in files to be reconsidered the next year • Attend all district events where awards are given Ballinger, D.A.
