Welcome to the Spanish class! This half sheet will help us understand your child better. Please provide your and your child's name, describe your child in three adjectives, what you hope they get out of the class, and what you would like us to work on. About the teacher, curriculum, homework policy, and class activities are mentioned. Contact information is provided.

(self-advocacy, study skills, organization, time management, homework completion, etc.)

  5. Grading • 20% daily work and participation (classwork, dialogue, speaking practice, warm-up quizzes and preparation) • 20% homework • 35% quizzes • 25% tests and projects • One test per marking period • At least one project per marking period

Homework • Homework will be posted on the board and the calendar each day and is generally worth 5 points. www.crsd.org • Holland Middle School • “Staff” • “Slifer” • Tarea (Homework) • Homework will be assigned 3-4 times per week and late homework will not be accepted. Homework is checked and gone over at the beginning of each class. Keys for homework and all assignments are on google classroom.

  7. What we will be doing in class… • Daily warm-up quizzes • Skits • Projects • Collaborative group work via google classroom • Stations • Review games • Reading and listening activities • Speaking assessments • Information gap activities

  8. What I expect of your child • Have an open mind about learning a new language and about the cultures of Spanish-speaking countries. • Be prepared for class. Be on time, be prepared with your materials, be ready to learn and complete your best work. • Participate and complete all classroom activities/assignments. You are learning a new language so you are going to make mistakes and that is okay. It will be very difficult to learn and be successful if you don’t complete the work. • Be productive and use your class time wisely.

  9. What you can expect from me... I will give my 100% best every day. I will show your child respect as a person and a learner. I will treat your child fairly as humanly possible. I will teach your child about the cultures of Spanish-speaking countries I will integrate technology as much as possible. I will try my best to answer any question that or your child has and help your child to understand the material. I will listen to the wants/needs of your child and I will try my best to accommodate them. I will try to plan fun activities and lessons. I will care about your child as a person and student.
