  1. Noah’s House Announces the “Lend A Hand” Support Opportunity

  2. “Lend A Hand…So We Can Extend Ours” Please lend a hand to Noah’s House so we can keep extending ours to intellectually disabled adults struggling with no place to go and little money.

  3. The Dilemma We Face - Together The Dilemma We Face is This… “Where Can I Go?” Homeless and alone on the streets of Houston is the choice some have been forced into. The reality for many intellectually disabled adults is that they also have very limited income. They often have no place to go other than Noah’s House. But when there is no alternative to a life on the streets and not enough money for even Noah’s House low fees, where do we send them?

  4. The Solution We Offer - Together The Solution Noah’s House Offers is… “I have some money but not that much. I can’t give it to you” Since our beginning over 16 years ago, in these situations and with help from caring donors like you, Noah’s House has been able to accept residents on a “sliding scale – ability to pay” basis. Because they too want to live as normal a life as possible and have a place to call home. It’s who we are and what we do.

  5. What That Means We Must Do - Together …But What That Means is… “But I have to go somewhere now. Do you know else where I can go?” Extending our hand to residents based on their ability to pay, even with their meager wages earned despite their disabilities, means a substantial “gap” in our revenues that leaves many expenses unpaid. The Lend A Hand effort is your opportunity to help us cover that “gap” and make it possible for us to keep extending our hand to those facing the crippling disadvantages of intellectual disability and limited resources.

  6. Realities To Overcome - Together Some of the Realities to Overcome are… • Noah’s House is running at virtually full capacity now • Noah’s House intentionally keeps its room & board rates as low as possible • Room & board rates were increased 10% effective July 1, 2014 • Our room & board rates are still well below those of other alternatives • A large majority of our revenues comes from resident room & board fees • Virtually all of our residents earn some wages through their outside work • Residents on a sliding scale basis do pay an average of 81% of full rate • The “gap” between full rates and ability to pay is about $ 100,000/year • That is only about 17% of revenue but 100% of uncovered expenses

  7. “Lend A Hand…So We Can Extend Ours” “I’m not like you. I need some help with things but they tell me I have to go somewhere now. I like to work. I like to be with people like me. Do you know where I can go? Help us keep extending our hand to provide an answer to this wrenching question. Enable us to continue giving a these gentle individuals the opportunity for a richly deserved better life. Their place to call home.

  8. “Will You Lend A Hand…? 9. Noah’s House is Extending Our Hand Noah’s House is a Houston based independent living center for intellectually disabled single adults. We make it possible for our high functioning (65 – 70 IQ) residents to live independently and work in the Houston community in a way that would not otherwise be possible – affordably, safely, with friends and dignity in a place of their own – a place to call home. Noah’s House, a financially solvent 501 (c) 3 non-profit charity, has operated continuously since 1998 and, since 2009, has been located in a purpose-built facility for up to 50 residents with independent private rooms, media support, community dining, recreation area, enclosed courtyard and specialized transportation services (see www.noahshousetx.org for more information).
