  1. AThree-FoldDuty Towardthe Lost “Lift up your eyes…” (John 4:35)

  2. A Three-Fold Duty Toward the Lost • Look:“lift up your eyes…” • * John 4:35; Proverbs 29:18

  3. John 4:35 • “Do you not say, ‘There are still four months and then comes the harvest'? Behold, I say to you, lift up your eyes and look at the fields, for they are already white for harvest!’” We must focuson the work which Christ has for us to do!

  4. Proverbs 29:18 • “Where there is no revelation, [prophetic vision] the people cast off restraint; But happy is he who keeps the law.” As we see so many ignorant of God’s word, and without “restraint” we should be motivated to do something to save them!

  5. A Three-Fold Duty Toward the Lost • Look:“lift up your eyes…” • * John 4:35; Proverbs 29:18 • Pray: “that he will send laborers” • * Matthew 9:37-38; James 5:16

  6. Matthew 9:37-38 • “Then He said to His disciples, ‘The harvest truly is plentiful, but the laborers are few. 38Therefore pray the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into His harvest.’” • The task is difficult • The Solution is not in wealth, education or prestige. Rather, in laborers.

  7. James 5:16 • “Confess your trespasses to one another, and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much.” Without God’s help, the task is impossible. Prayer can help greatly!

  8. A Three-Fold Duty Toward the Lost • Look:“lift up your eyes…” • * John 4:35; Proverbs 29:18 • Pray: “that he will send laborers” • * Matthew 9:37-38; James 5:16 • Go: “to all nations” • * Matthew 28:18-19; Mark 16:15; • * Romans 10:13-14; Ezekiel 33:8-9

  9. Matthew 28:18-19 • “And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, ‘All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. 19Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit…’” The invitation of God is made to every nation under heaven

  10. Mark 16:15-16 • “And He said to them, ‘Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature. 16He who believes and is baptized will be saved; but he who does not believe will be condemned.’” The sinner’s obedience (vs. 16) is dependent upon our obedience (vs. 15)

  11. Romans 10:13-14 • “For ‘whoever calls on the name of the LORD shall be saved.’ 14How then shall they call on Him in whom they have not believed? And how shall they believe in Him of whom they have not heard? And how shall they hear without a preacher?” Again, God chose to save men through the efforts of Christians!

  12. Ezekiel 33:8-9 • “When I say to the wicked, ‘O wicked man, you shall surely die!’ and you do not speak to warn the wicked from his way, that wicked man shall die in his iniquity; but his blood I will require at your hand. 9Nevertheless if you warn the wicked to turn from his way, and he does not turn from his way, he shall die in his iniquity; but you have delivered your soul.” God will judge the idle!

  13. “So, as much as is in me, I am ready to preachthe gospel to you whoare in Rome also.16For I am notashamed of thegospel of Christ, for it is the powerof God tosalvationfor everyone whobelieves, for theJew first and alsofor the Greek.”(Romans 1:15-16)
