Universal Access of TB Services to People Living with HIV: Harnessing Collaboration and Coordination Satellite Symposium Sunday 3 August 2008 15:45 h –17:30* h Room SR 10 (950) Key note speakers: Kevin De Cock, Department of HIV/AIDS, WHO Mark Dybul, US Global AIDS Coordinator, USA Musa Njoko , Activist, South Africa Anupong Chitwarakorn, Ministry of Health, Thailand Henry Akpan, Ministry of Health, Nigeria Paul Nunn, Stop TB Department, WHO Co-chairs: Michel Kazatchine, Executive Director, Global Fund to Fight AIDS, TB and Malaria Diane Havlir, Chair HIV/TB Working Group of the Stop TB Partnership This satellite session will address the key, practical activities that need to be implemented in order to reduce the burden of TB in people living with HIV and ensure the universal access of TB prevention, diagnosis and treatment services. Particular emphasis will be given to the challenges and opportunities of mainstreaming the Three Is for HIV/TB - intensified TB case finding, Isoniazid preventive therapy and infection control for TB in HIV care services in order to advocate for their inclusion as core functions of HIV care services. *Please note, the symposium will finish on time to ensure that participants can travel to the Opening Ceremony at the Auditorio Nacional.
